BurhiAairSadhupdf Burhi Aai Sadhupdf is a story about a Hindu man bearing the name, "Mohan," who was born in the year 1900 in a small village in Bengal. The novel is set right before World War I and explores many themes such as class, caste, identity conflict and love.Destitute of family means and homeless, Mohan sets to pursue his interest in music by travelling to Calcutta with his uncle Ratna. Here he befriends Pulak Mukherjee-a wealthy Bengali Brahmin from the Chatterjee family-who provides him with shelter and connections to enter into matrimony with Rani (a woman of lower caste). However, Mohan's true love is the muse of the narrative named Anirudha, who sets him on a journey of self-discovery. The novel ends on a note of hope and revelation as Mohan realizes he will never be able to woo Rani and start a family until Anirudha blesses him with his heart's desire (i.e. Anirudha). The novel has been translated into several languages: English, Kannada, Hindi and Bengali; it has also been adapted for both stage and screen. Bengali film director Gautam Ghose has also filmed a semi-biographical documentary of the novel. It is also used as a teaching material for English literature at many Indian universities.Mangesh Dhruvkar - Scripting, Direction, Editing Dhruvkar was unhappy with the screenplay being written by Mahesh Acharya and approached a team of writers including Tanika Ray and Barun Kashyap to script a different version of "Burhi Aai Sadhupdf". To finalise the team he went to meet Acharya. He offered him a lot of money to buy out his potential claim on the film. Acharya walked out of the meeting and later filed a complaint against Dhruvkar with the Mumbai Police because he felt Dhruvkar was blackmailing him. In response, Dhruvkar filed a civil suit against Acharya and the producers of the film "Burhi Aai Sadhupdf". As matter progressed, both parties got an order from Bombay High Court to take it to arbitration under section 397A of IPC (Indian penal Code). The arbitrator was Justice R.M. Shah who since then has been arguing for both parties. This section of the IPC allows the arbitrator to decide whether there is any arbitration clause, and what circumstances would constitute an agreement (such as an offer) for arbitration. It also allows the court to award costs to the winning party if it decided that there was no agreement to arbitrate. Both parties filed with Justice Shah their own versions of what took place at the meeting, along with various proofs on paper and tapes. A lot of evidence also pointed towards Dhruvkar making an offer of Rs 2 crore plus 10% profit share on his own version. But according to the producers’ version, Dhruvkar offered Rs 1 crore plus 5% profit share. cfa1e77820
