If you haven't seen the film, Eat Pray Love, don't worry it's not about food. It's about a woman who decides to rebuild her life after years of marriage and divorce by taking on three seemingly impossible tasks: learning to love herself again; finding happiness in family, friends and career; and discovering a life that is her own. Morgan tells of how Liz Gilbert (former CNN reporter) left an unhappy marriage, found new love in Rome with Fabrizio (a charismatic Italian), then returned to America to find solace with her sister in New York. For Gilbert, the hardest part of her journey was trying to get over her ex-husband. She talks about him here: “He is my greatest gift, and whatever pain he caused me throughout our marriage, he is my greatest gift too.” She says that she felt guilty for being upset with him because of the happiness he had brought into her life. “It's not forever,” she tells herself, “this sadness. It will lift. It will pass away like all feelings do if you allow them to. ” Gilbert talks about how her ex-husband was like a god to her. Her parents had always told her that life would not be good, that it would be tough, but he made it good for her then she thought she'd never be happy again. One day when she was in Italy with Fabrizio (and the two were deeply in love) she visited the place where they got married. She took a photo of herself and him on their wedding day and said to him, “I know I'm not going to be happy again until I can find a way to let this pain go.” And then she held the photo out at arm's length and ripped it up into tiny pieces. She knew that she'd never be able to get over him until she ripped up the photo. Just like you can't move on in life until you let go of the past. I'm here to tell you that you can get over your ex-husband. When Gilbert broke up with her husband, he said, “You will never find anyone else who loves you like I do.” But of course she did, and so can you. Let me show you how: 1. Understand where the pain comes from: You'll never get over him unless you understand where your anger and hurt come from. In your heart, you probably still want him back. Why? Because on some level, you think that if he came back into your life, he'd be different from the man who left. You'd get that second chance that might work out this time around. You can't let go of him until you accept the fact that he's not going to change and you don't want a guy like him in your life anyway. So ask yourself: Why did I marry him in the first place? What was wrong with me or what was wrong with my relationship? You have to face up to these questions and deal with them before you can move on. 2. cfa1e77820
